Accordion Book + Color MeditationÂ
Join artist and author Lisa Solomon for an online creative workshop of bookmaking, watercolor, and conversation inspired by her new book, ART, CRAFT, COLOR.Â
ART, CRAFT, COLOR offers twenty creative projects that celebrate the many ways color impacts creative practice and everyday life.
In class, we'll begin by learning e bond’s Accordion Book format and transform a single large sheet of paper into a book that we’ll be using for watercolor. We'll warm up with basic practice in saturation/water control and brush work with a hint of color mixing, then introduce key ideas around color and how it can inform our artistic process. Finally, Lisa will guide us through her unique watercolor meditation technique!
Each participant will leave with a new handmade book to continue their watercolor explorations, along with a greater understanding of color as a tool for reflection, relaxation and inspiration!

Join the workshop →Lisa Solomon is a mixed media artist/illustrator/author that moonlights as a college professor. Profoundly interested in the idea of hybridization (sparked from her Hapa heritage), Solomon's mixed-media works and large installations revolve thematically around domesticity, craft, and personal histories. She often fuses "wrong" things together--recontextualizing their original purposes, and incorporating materials that question the line between ART and CRAFT. She also is focused on bridging the gaps between being creative, living creatively, and making a living as a creative. She received her BA in art from UC Berkeley and her MFA from Mills College.
She has exhibited and works with galleries both nationally and internationally, is in numerous private and public collections, and is continually tweaking artworks in her backyard studio. She resides in Oakland, California with her husband, a teenager, two kitties, a three legged pit-bull, a dachshund mutt and many, many spools of thread. Her latest book is Art/Craft/Color released in March 2026. She is also the author of - A Field Guide To Color - a workshop work-a-long watercolor journal on color theory and the follow up The Color Meditation Deck, a historical book on Crayola crayons, Knot Thread Stitch, as well as the illustrator for 20 Ways to Draw a Chair and Draw 500 Everyday Things. She is also an instructor on CreativeBug.

Hi. I'm Margo.
I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.
I have spent basically my whole life immersed in some sort of creative project or another. I love putting art out into the world, especially the work of other creatives.
With decades of experience in design, product development, licensing, and creative direction, I’ve built a career around supporting artists in doing what they do best. That’s what led me to create Tantau Studio, host the Windowsill Chats podcast, and share through courses, mentoring, and now, Windowsill Workshops.
I hope this space brings you joy, inspiration, and room to creatively grow. I’m cheering you on as you keep showing up.
I see you shining!
 xxo Margo
